It’s Day 1 of Tricycle Meditation Month, our annual challenge to sit all 31 days of March, and we’re getting started with the first of four free guided meditation videos led by our Meditation Month teacher, Martine Batchelor.
Martine is a leading mindfulness instructor who has been teaching Vipassana and Zen retreats all over the world for the last 30 years. She is also an author, a member of the Gaia House Teacher Council, and a former nun who studied in the Korean Zen tradition of Master Kusan for ten years.
Over the next four weeks, she will lead you through four meditation practices, which will build on one another. Along the way, she will break down the fundamentals of meditation so that you will have all the tools you need to develop a regular practice. The videos will be posted every Friday throughout the month on onairshop.com.
In her first video, Martine explains how concentration and inquiry constitute the basis of meditation. Using a mindfulness of the breath and body practice, she demonstrates how approaching our practice with care and friendliness allows us to look more deeply into our experience.
